The Hook

The Game That Never Tells You If You're Winning

The hook isn't a tagline, it's the design. Ally Strength stays hidden enough that you rarely know if you're ahead, so you obsess over your rival's every move. That tension is EQL.

  • A Shared Board

You each acquire cards from the same five-card Quest Board, and shop from a shared Trinket Board. Every card you take is a card they can't.

  • Dice-Sworn Events

Unavoidable Events pit you against your rival, and the winner takes the reward.

  • No Hand. No Secrets.

There is no hand. You only ever have the five cards you've deployed, face-up. Yet the score stays murky until the very end.

Spring, 1861

The Prophet's Promise

A prophet named Barty Mon'Treese gathers millions on America's Southeast coast, promising to reveal the knowledge of creation. Families travel for weeks to hear him speak. At the sermon's climax, the crowd falls silent, and looks up.

Day Zero

The Sky Glows Blue

Not enlightenment, but fire. The heavens split open above the gathered millions, and the light that was promised becomes the fire that consumes.

They would come to call it Devastation Day.

The Impact

A World Scarred

The falling fire vaporizes and scars the land. Survivors who flee into the forests find nature itself turned hostile. The old maps stop meaning anything.

"Earth is forever changed, and no matter who comes out on top, there will be no safety, no security."

The Silence After

The Words Never Heard

The words of the prophet, Barty Mon'Treese, were never heard, and the attack on those who had gathered left room for select individuals to begin their quest for power.

The world falls into war: the Fall of Mon'Treese.

From the Ashes

Four Powers Rise

A new civil war has started, with members of four vastly different factions fighting among themselves for ultimate control of Earth.

In the dark heart of conflict, where forces collide and legends are born, one path prevails - the Eternal Quest of Legends.

The Infernal

The most Force-heavy faction in the game. The Infernal specialize in the banish pile, burning their own to fuel the fire and forcing unwanted cards into your rival's deck.

"The world is ending either way, so end it with fire."

How It Plays

One Turn, Total War

  • Collect your currencies

Force and Charisma reset each turn. Earn them from your five deployed cards, your Legend, and your Structure.

  • Spend on the shared boards

Recruit Followers, pursue Encounters, and buy Trinkets from boards you share with your rival. Every card you take is a denial they face.

  • Rank up Legend and Structure

Encounters grant Reputation and Dominion, the only permanent scores and the only way to rank up and unlock your true potential.

  • Outlast the Fall

When the Quest Deck runs out, the rival holding the most Ally Strength seizes victory.

The Traveler's Pack
